‘Current’s strong,’ he said

We boarded the vessel anyway.


‘The boat’s small and old,’

We undocked anyway.


‘Your weak hands have not a force to pedal!’ said he

We changed direction regardless.


And when we sank

Hand in hand

The sky roared

Coast guard, whistle blown

‘You know not how to swim,’ he said.

He died that Sunday,

Payday.
